Thank you for your support in 2007.
Wind power installations around the world have
reduced CO2 emissions by 5% this
year. This is equivalent to replacing 23 medium-sized
coal fired power plants. That's good news for
the environment. At the same time, with the
fast increasing oil and natural gas prices,
the returns on investment in renewable energy
projects are becoming sooner than expected.
Many leading countries, including China, have
successfully implemented their renewable energy
mandates and achieved over their initial targets.
How have these countries done it? The answer
is simple. They pay for it. They have made a
political decision that all renewables are desirable
and needed, in fact they are needed now.
In 2007, EGL Energy has achieved significant
success especially in the introduction of wind-solar
hybrid power solutions into government sectors.
Some projects worth mentioning include the adoption
of EGL's wind-solar solutions by the Hong Kong
government housing department; the implementation
the world's first wifi network powered solely
by wind and solar energy by the government of
the Republic of Nauru.
In the coming year, EGL Energy will continue
to introduce innovative solutions to help tackle
the energy and environmental issues. We look
forward to your continuous support and efforts
to promote renewable energy to your organisations,
customers and countries.
From all the staff at EGL Energy, we wish you
a Merry Christmas and a Happy reNewable Year.
EGL
Energy partner Oceanic Broadband has recently
completed the installation work of a state-of-art
Wi-fi/Wi-max network powered only by renewable
energy source. Situated in Nauru, a small island-nation
in the Pacific, the wind-solar hybrid wifi service
is the world's first true wireless network.
The solution is based on Colubris Wi-fi transmitters
and receivers on a Wi-max backbone to provide
full service coverage for the island. All 40
repeater and base stations are powered by EGL
Enegy wind turbines and solar modules. This
solves the power issues without damaging the
island natural eco-system and environment.
Oceanic Broadband will be promoting this world-class
solution at the Satcom
Australia 2007 at Soffitel Hotel, Sydney,
3rd - 5th December 2007. Click

As the leading Hong Kong company in the design
of aesthetic and proven renewable energy systems
for modern municipalities, EGL Energy will be
participating the IDT
Expo, to be held at the Hong Kong Convention
and Exhibition Centre (Wanchai) from 12th-15th
December 2007. Inno Design Tech Expo (IDT Expo)
is an exposition of innovations, presenting
the latest practical technologies and design
solutions.

EGL Energy has recently completed a series of
exhibitions, firstly the Eco Asia Expo at AsiaWorld-Expo,
Hong Kong from 27th-30th October 2007.
The EGL Energy booth was visited by many guests
and visitors from around the world, including
distinguished members from the Australian City
Council of Gold Coast Queensland, and the Center
for Renewable Energy from Hungary.
New
EGL products launched at this exhibition included
the Celebration series wind-solar hybrid
park lights and the wind-solar hybrid CCTV which
uses wireless IP technology.
Exhibited in the same period was the wind-solar
hybrid CCTV solution at the China Public
Security Exhibition held in Shenzhen from 1st-4th
November 2007.
EGL Energy will working with several developers
of some of the world's most advanced eco and
self-sufficient town with powers generated by
wind and solar energy.
"Gold Coast City Council is working to
preserve and protect the natural environment
through a range of strategies and programs.
EGL Energy's comprehensive renewable energy
solutions and eco-consultation are useful to
us", commented the Council.

As part of the Hong Kong government's effort to implement
and promote Renewable Energy, the Hong Kong
Housing Authority has enaged EGL Energy to install
their first wind-solar hybrid park light in
a public housing estate.
The new HM-35
wind-solar hybrid park light from the Celebration
series was specially designed to provide self-sustainable
illumination as well as to enhance the aesthetics
of a modern housing environment. The heart of
the hybrid park lamp is a 35W Metal Halide lamp
which gives 43-lux brillant white light from
4m high.
The Housing Authority builds and provides subsidised
public housing, commercial properties and parking
facilities in Hong Kong. To date, there are
over 100 modernised housing estates built and
maintained by the HKHA.
HKHA's pilot wind-solar hybrid park light is
situated at the badminton court of the Shek
Kip Mei housing estate. The wind-solar application
not only provided the badminton court with self-sustained
lighting but also an educational treat for the
residents, and upgrading their estate status
towards a clean and freindly living environment.
EGL Energy launches the state-of-the-art dual
source light box in Hong Kong. The design concept
where an LPS (low pressure sodium) bulb is utilized
in conjunction with a metal halide (MH) bulb
was recently implemented on a HH-71 wind-solar
hybrid street light for the Chinese University
of Hong Kong (CUHK).
This combination of bulbs creates a lighting
system that provides the benefits of the high
penetrability of the LPS narrow spectrum yellow
light that remains effective in bad weather,
especially where fog is present, and the white
light contribution from the MH allows for improved
true colour differentiation. The combined benefits
make this lamp ideal for motor roads.
The hybrid lamp is powered by EGL Energy's
wind and solar power for energy independence.
The lamp pole is designed and made to British
Standards capable of withstanding wind speeds
in excess of 65m/s, in compliance with the Hong
Kong SAR wind code.
CUHK's wind-solar hybrid street light is situated
within the campus near Science Park Road leading
towards the Hong Kong Science Park in Shatin,
and is adjacent to the Tolo Highway and the
scenic Taipo bicycle trail. Passengers on KCR trains may even catch a glimpse of this spectacular.
EGL Energy is proud to annouce our participation
at the Eco
Expo Asia 2007, to be held at the AsiaWorld-Expo,
Hong Kong from 27th-30th October 2007. As a
commitment to environmental protection and energy
saving, EGL Energy will be showing a series
of renewable energy products and solutions.
