EGL
Energy's solar power system was recently deployed
on an off-shore facility owned by Hong Kong's
leading utility company Towngas. The platform
has no power and no wired telecommunication
available and lacked the regulatory required
security surveillance for many years.
Solar power is used to supply self-sustainable
electricity for a wireless security surveillance
system. The surveillance system provided by
Jupiter Networks uses 3.5G HSPA to transmit
video IP packets over the mobile network and
internet. The user is then able to view and
record platform activities from their office
on land.
The joint effort combined years of expertise
from both companies applying technologies in
renewable energy, CCTV surveillance and wireless
telecommunication.

Hong
Kong ASD project at the Ma On Shan Promenade
was recently completed and area officially opened
to public on 1st January 2010.
EGL HT-400 wind turbines are used to provide
clean and self-sufficient power to LED ground
and wall lights that illuminate icons at the
view points. There are a total of 3 view points
along the stretch.
The project renovates a 2.5 km stretch of paveway
and bicycle trail along the Tolo Harbour, designed
on the modern-day living environment theme of
"Water" and "Wind".
Apart from the practical use of wind energy
for public lighting, EGL Energy's wind system
also serves as an educational tool for public
on clean energy. The wind turbines are now icons
in this modern housing estate.

Thank you for your support in 2009.
The year comes to an end with nothing more
dramatic than the turbulence at Copenhagen and
the failure for world leaders to come up with
an agreement that will protect the earth's atmosphere
from devastating climate change.
Some accused China, Sudan, Bolivia and other
leftwing Latin American countries of trying
to "hold the world to ransom" to prevent a deal
being reached. Others blamed Obama with embarrassingly
low targets and the heavy carbon emitters of
the world took their cue from him. The "deal"
that was ultimately rammed through was nothing
more than a grubby pact between the world's
biggest emitters: 'I'll pretend that you are
doing something about climate change if you
pretend that I am too. Deal? Deal!'
It is worth noting that while we can negotiate with each other about climate change and what to do, or not do about it, we cannot negotiate with the climate itself. In the last decade of climate research, the rate of global warming has consistently matched or outpaced the "worst-case" projections produced by leading climate models. And yet no matter how many studies are published revealing alarming new data, public opinion on the matter seems still to be determined by politics instead of physics.
A recent late-night TV show in the US joked,
"according to a new U.N. report, the global
warming outlook is much worse than originally
predicted. Which is pretty bad when they originally
predicted it would destroy the planet." It’s
possible that human beings will simply never
be able to figure out how to bring global warming
under control — that having been warned about
the greatest danger we ever faced, we simply
won't take significant action to prevent it.
We at EGL Energy continue this uphill battle
for a better future. We wish you a Merry Christmas
and a Happy reNewable Year.

EGL
Energy recently completed Hong Kong's biggest
wind and solar powered park lighting project.
This project is situated at Sau Mau Ping Phase#13
estate, Hong Kong Housing Authority's newest
due to be completed in August.
Four wind and solar hybrid system manufactured
by EGL Energy is used to provide power to chains
of LED lights along the foot paths and around
the playground. In addition, two HL-35 wind-solar
street light using 35W SOX bulbs provide the
main lighting for the area.
The Hong Kong Housing Authority is the leading
property developer in Hong Kong to apply clean
energy to modern day living for their tenants.
